By Being Simply You

April 11th, 2009

You make my heart sing an ancient love song,
And I know that with you is where I belong.

Your sweet gentle touch sends thrills my body over,
No one else in this world could ever be my lover.

Your strong arms around me, shielding from all harm,
Darling, no man possesses one-tenth of your charm.

All the wrongs in my life you transmuted into right,
And all the darkness in life has suddenly turned bright.

The tender warmth of true love, in me you revive,
Feelings once dead have come back alive.

Your essense is as lovely as the graceful yellow rose,
With you I find the solace of romantic repose.

As long as I live; until the day I expire,
You will always remain my only desire.

The love that I have and the feelings of joy,
No power on earth could ever destroy.

As I appreciate the elegance and beauty of each flower,
So I cherish you honey, each moment of every hour.

The surge of the great waters in the Pacific Ocean,
Doesn’t compare to your stirring of my loving emotions.

Emotions, once damaged and resolutely inert,
Suppressed and repressed to avoid further hurt,

Dear heart, these emotions you have somehow unleashed,
And all the love I have for you will never decrease.

To a woman who through life had only been drifting,
Your devotion and passion has been truly uplifting.

So I have no ambition, no goals or endeavors,
Except to love and prize you, now and forever.

And know that there’s nothing you ever had to do.
You won my love honey, by being simply you.

Why I enjoy Writing?

April 11th, 2009

During interviews and general conversations with the public, one of the most difficult questions for me to answer(timely and thoroughly) is,”Why do you enjoy writing”?

So due to the challenge manifested in such a question,I pondered on creating an answer. Many reasons came to mind, but after digesting much”time for thought”,I managed to condense my response to three items. I enjoy writing for three reasons: self-expression,personal sensitivity and thirst for adventure.

“Self-expression” is our Creator’s gift to all-everyone has something to say. The difference comes with how a person expresses him or herself. Having an outlet to relieve ones inner turmoil or joy is necessary;and when the results is a wholesome creation of some type,it should be shared with others.Complexity arises when trying to express how others feel because a person’s self-expression(being a writer) is a prerequisite to understanding another’s expression(being an editor). There’s an interwovenness of personal feelings, dogma and personality associated with a person’s self-expression. Much of what writers’ convey is the result of the chemistry of feelings, experience or both. Most of the time the writers’ feelings prevail.Deep down in all of us there are voices whose vocal chords are pencils waiting to be sharpened and used. Self-expression is the breath of opinion, the dissipation of disposition and the only river worth drowning in. “Honesty” rules the castle of “self-expression”.

“Personal sensitivity” varies from person to person. Much of a person’s ethical, ethnical, moral and environmental exposers dictates his or her perception of the world. Some writers concentrate only on a certain discipline of their total resources. Others are more roaming and experimental as to absorb from a combination of all sensations obtained. Inspiration ignites sensitivity whether it be something heard, felt or read. To be able to define a sensation by the use of words is satisfying. Sensations make, break, increase and decrease the rhythms of ones mental and physical compositions. Ones “degree of compassion” rules the castle of “personal sensitivity”.

The “thirst for adventure” deters boredom. Anyone, whether being a writer or not, imagines events, incidents, possibilities and probabilities in their minds. These mental occurrences(visions) dwell within us for short periods of time and sometimes forever. But until the inspirations are subjected to some type of tangible(music, painting, literature, sculpture, etc.)medium, they can’t be documented and shared with others. If you don’t want to be creative, you won’t be!! Good writers aren’t born, they are crafted!!! You are the characters that you write about!! You’re a vital part of the incidents you describe. If you’re writing about a diehard tyrant, you are that tyrant!! If it’s a voyage around the world, you’re on that voyage!! Merely sitting in the boat won’t do it!!! One must set sail to quench the “thirst for adventure”.

Writers are day-in day-out dreamers, dressed in all colors, travelling across paper pulp by way of a dictionary.

Now I ask you,”Why do you enjoy writing”?

Backyard Snow Activities for Children

April 3rd, 2009

You look outside and see a beautiful blanket of white snow covering the ground. Your children are inside getting more and more restless as the morning progresses.

The next time this happens, turn off the TV, bundle up the kids, and head outside for some old-fashioned fun in the snow.

Snowman
Who says lumps of coal are a bad thing at Christmastime? All you need to make a snowman is a few lumps of coal (or rocks) for eyes and a mouth, a carrot for a nose, sticks for arms, and a scarf and hat to keep him warm, and you’ll
have a snowman to make Frosty the Snowman envious. If you have very ambitious children, send them out to make an entire
snow family. Your kids will be entertained for hours.

Snow Angels
Have your children lay down in the snow and move their arms up and down, and their legs in and out. Then, have them stand up. Your little angel will have made an angel in the snow. Add glitter or a garland halo to make your snow angel sparkle.

Build a Snow Fort or Igloo
There’s no cheaper way to build a playhouse than with snow. Invest in some warm mittens for your kids, and send them outside with some buckets. They may get inspired and create an entire home, with snow-furniture and decorations. You may even provide them with a spray-bottle with water and food-coloring so they can ‘paint’ their igloo. Serve them hot cocoa with yummy marshmallows in their new home.

Snowball Fight
Older kids love a good snowball fight. If you have a fluffy snowy day, jump into the fray with your kids and show them how a good snowball fight is done.

So, the next time you see the kids getting restless, bundle them up in cozy clothes, send them out into the snow, and start some hot cocoa brewing. Grab the camera and enjoy the day.

Genealogy - Why You Should Get Involved in Your Family History

March 31st, 2009

A few years ago I read a statistic that said that genealogy was the second largest hobby in the United States - second only to gardening. It was no surprise to me as I have been finding and documenting my family tree for almost 30 years. Over that time a lot of people have asked me, “Why genealogy? What do you get out of it?” There are a lot of reasons to find out about your family and I’ll cover just a few hoping that one of them will get you started.

Curiosity: A lot of people are just plain curious about where they came from, what their ancestors did, how they got here - to this time and this place. Lots of people find themselves in this category when they are told that they are adopted. While they have adoptive parents, traditions, and history, they also have another history that calls out to them. Other people have lost touch and are curious about where people are, how they turned out, who they married.

It’s a Great Puzzle: This applies to me in several areas of my life besides genealogy. I have worked with numbers a lot - particularly with market research. I just love understanding what motivates people to buy certain products, where they shop, how much they want to pay, and where they want to hear about those products.
When my wife and I go camping I spend hours working crypto quotes in the sun - fun and challenging puzzles that help me relax.

When it comes to puzzles, I don’t think anything can match the complexity and fun of genealogy. Just think about a jigsaw puzzle that has an almost infinite number of pieces - some of them that don’t fit and some of them missing. Nothing can match the satisfaction I get from finding one of those lost pieces of the puzzle and putting it into place. These are puzzle pieces that lead to long-lost cousins and far-off places.

Hobby: I did a lot of market research before organizing FamilyTrackers, Inc. The company was started out of my belief that Internet searches could be much more accurate than those usually conducted on the Internet. Interestingly, there is a group of genealogists who resist a more accurate way to find information. They are not interested in any tools that make the job faster. “That is the reason I do my family tree - to fill up my time. Looking into page after page of results is the part I like about genealogy. It’s my hobby,” they said. Fortunately for me and for FamilyTrackers those who like the things I find most tedious are not a large portion of the market.

Leave a Legacy: Some people approach middle age or have a traumatic event at any age that prompts them to think about their mortality. “If I never meet my grandchildren, what will they know about me? What will they know about my parents? How will we be remembered?” Those of us who are fortunate enough to have ancestors in this category are indeed lucky. My grandmother wrote a short story about her trip as a young girl in a covered wagon from Illinois to Kansas. Thinking about it now, it must have been a dusty, hot, and miserable trip. The events that she wrote about were ordinary, daily occurrences that were taken for granted in her time - something that she wrote about because the trip was out of the ordinary. Read the same story today and discover something that is unique to our experience - herding cattle, rustlers, camping out every night. If you do nothing else with your family history, you should write down or record your life experiences in your own words in any way that you see fit.

Emotional Satisfaction: This is a huge reason for being involved in genealogy and one that I hear repeated by other people as they talk excitedly about their latest discovery. There are moments that happen during a search that are touching and immensely satisfying. This is the moment that you look at your great grandfather’s signature on your grandparent’s marriage license; put your hand on the baptismal font where your oldest known ancestor was baptized; stand on the ground where your great grandfather from the old country is buried - knowing that your grandmother stood on this spot in front of an open grave grieving her loss. These moments are thrilling, goose-bump producing moments of a life time when you can almost reach across time and touch a person who you finally understand and know. This is a moment you must not miss!

Give Something Back: Lots of people get involved when they volunteer at their local genealogical or historical society. What a wonderful place to meet nice people who are willing to help you discover your roots. These groups are responsible for saving crumbling records all over the world and for making the information available to everybody. People who work in these places are almost always unpaid and give their time and effort on behalf of people like you and me every single day - people they have never even met. This is important work and you can get the satisfaction of helping other people by volunteering yourself. It is easy. Pick up the phone and call.

Whatever your reasons, give genealogy a try. It is a stimulating hobby that will put you in touch with yourself and with a lot of nice people who are ready and willing to help.

In the Haunting Gloom of Twilight (the Devil at Dusk)

March 28th, 2009

In my poetry I shall tell of the trials, woes, and joys
To time yet unborn…;
Of sleep and death that lie ahead…and of strange music
As He beckons the world to his command,

In the haunting gloom of twilight.

Somewhere I lost my passing grace, and there you stood
Thou deadliest face…;
For a time: to tell the hearts unrest: in mercies unconfused
As He beckons the world to his command,
In the haunting gloom of twilight.

To whom the unceasing fires belong (an inviolable heart)
Numbered is thy consequence…;
A hymn, He hums: trembles the eveningof frozen flesh
As he beckons the world to his command,
In the haunting gloom of twilight.

Silent I turn from time, that holds dominion over all
As Orion’s sword passes by…;
Gives way to the Devils hostile Firmament: warfare
As He beckons the world to his command,
In the haunting gloom of twilight.

Unarmed, He and I stand (like mindless clay) in the sun
Awaiting the darkness…;
A sacrificial past for him, over Orion’s distinct sword
As He beckons the world to his command,
In the haunting gloom of twilight.

Moods in Motion

March 16th, 2009

Title: Moods in Motion

Entertaining Read …….. Recommended 5 stars

The Review

The stanzas open with a lyrical work: You in You: I see you in everything But what I love the most Is to see you in you. The reader experiences the bitter sorrow of Poisoned Pen, the binary love of Saviors Arms as well as the embracing warmth of the sun in Beach Thoughts. We feel the poignant longing of the Blind Poet : He imagines rainbows within his shadows And senses gods presence upon his shoulders. the End of the Line leads the reader to the portal at the end of the rainbow. We Ponder the wonder of life as we read Born for a Reason. Sometimes it is better just to start Entirely over, Entirely Over and other times We are searching for a shadow Inside a galaxy of stars. Finally we close our reading sitting for hours in the Ghost Garden.

On the pages of Moods in Motion Lyrist Forese has created a tantalizing publication of 50 of some of his finest elegies. Verses extending across seventy pages entice the reader with a diversity of deeply felt sonnets penned about a far-reaching melange of the authors favorite subjects. Lyrist Forese’s passion for life flows from the page to the reader as these poems are enjoyed. Stanzas filled with warmth, perspicacity and contemplation are included in this picturesque arrangement. Readers, regardless of whether they are admirers of poetry or not, are sure to take pleasure from Moods in Motion. Lovers of poetry will unquestionably be exhilarated as they find themselves stopping often to relish a statement or a passage before going on to the next appealing tidbit.

Poet Forese has an extraordinary aptitude for taking the everyday issues of life and turning them into an irresistible work. There is something for everyone in Moods in Motion. Accomplished, piercing, words to enrapture, and thrill are offered as Poet Forese draws upon the adventures of life to give rise to an opus of lovely work. Romance, life lessons, enlightenment all are communicated to the heart of the reader in most good-natured and calculable manner. Readers will be sure to be transformed in a very tangible way while reading the words offered by this perceptive, straightforward poet.

Moods in Motion is meant to be read and then taken out often for a re reading as craving and fancy strikes. Bard Forese demonstrates his idyllic genius in this exquisite little work. Each refrain only gets better.

It is the belief of this reviewer that Moods in Motion should do well in specialty/gift type shops as an offering when a unique gift for a particular person is essential. The work will lend itself well to the homeschool library for middle grade to high school age readers as they begin to explore the world of poetry for themselves. With the writer’s permission I plan to lift a poem or two for use in my fourth grade classroom as we begin to write some poetry for ourselves.

Lovely book for a long winter afternoon or a quick poem or two while waiting for the light to change during a busy day.

Enjoyed the read, happy to recommend.

Crazy Love, Old Vows and Modesty [a Poem]

March 6th, 2009

Shall my old heart restore?
All those kisses it once poured
 Out and under autumn's door?
No second spring, shall I see
No crazy love, only aching knees.

Gone are my youthful hours
Flown away, like the end of a dream:
 Images, only images now kept,
In old vaults, and far-off islands.

False hearts, and cracked vows
 ‘Tis all hell has allowed:
 ‘Inconstancy,’ my heart cries:
 ‘Retire old heart, before you die’;
For sweetness of youth has gone away…

and so I did, retire my old heart. I gave my heart liberty to play and toy, as it will, wished; in my youth that is, as did those I met; and so play with me, they did, those I met with my heart. Freedom was full and complete back then, and whatever I sought ‘need or want,’ practice made perfect, for all the sweets of love. Bodies in my arms, pressed gently, a kiss, a good cry now and then, eyes that wished for more or less; that is how it was, depending on the time of day, month, year: now to obtain these old liberties, would be foolish, I am like a bee with its sting gone. Oh, my wife would not agree, but I would; I know how I was. Call it dull equipment, or perhaps a fire left burning, and now it is only embers. It almost makes a person fell like a murmur: old bones. There is no real desire beyond the term ‘desire,’ (enjoyment or orgasm). Much I have said about youth, and old bones, now for a spark of modesty.

I shall love my wife, ‘love thee till I die,’ and if you ask why, I would say: what has come with age is ‘…living life modestly,’ self-effacingly: something, with a little more ring. For now I am much more willing to furnish: because I understand the art of love, and giving.

The secret to giving a gift basket is to select one that contains items that the recipients will love! One that reflects their personality, and contain things that they can use. This shows that the giver has put a lot of thought into selecting a gift.

Different types of gift specialty gift baskets

Specialty gift baskets come in many shapes, sizes, and themes such as baby shower gift baskets, Valentines Day gift baskets, holiday gift baskets, flower gift baskets, etc.

Theme gift baskets are organized according to theme, and contain things that are in keeping with this theme. A sample of this type of specialty gift basket is a baby shower gift basket. This has items such baby toys, bottles, towels, toiletries, rattles, and baby clothes. This is a perfect present to give a mother and her baby, since this contains things that would be very useful to the baby.

Make your very own homemade specialty gift basket

First thing one has to do when making their own homemade gift basket is to make a list of all the items that they want to include in their gift basket. Try to include things in the gift basket that you know the person who is about to receive it will love. This does not necessarily have to fit your taste. Remember that you are trying to please the recipient, and not you!

A great tip when making a gift basket is to include some flowers. Not only will this decorate the gift basket, but it also brighten up the day of the person who receives this gift basket!

Where to buy specialty gift baskets

Online stores carry a lot of specialty gift basket. The great thing about purchasing online is that online stores have a huge stock! Customers would be able to choose from a wide selection of product.

There are different types of baskets for all kinds of occasion. Also, they range in prices so customers can choose a gift basket that fit their budget.

Customers also have the option of having their specialty gift basket delivered straight to the recipient. A basic gift basket can start anywhere from $39 upwards. Deluxe gift baskets which contain more items and tend to be more on the luxurious side are priced at around $200 upwards.

Specialty gift baskets can also be found in the mall, or gift shops. The problem with buying in these places is that customers normally do not have a wide selection to choose from.

It is always fun to receive a specialty gift basket, especially when you know that the person who has given it to you has put a lot of thought into it. This is why those who are thinking of buying a specialty gift basket should take the time to pick out the perfect gift basket for the one they are going to give it to!

Five Ways To Find New Markets for Your Dog and Cat Art

March 1st, 2009

As you create your dog and cat art, you will find that you would like to find a market for your many non-commissioned pieces. When it comes to generic dog and cat art, keep the following tips in mind:

1. Full body renderings peak more interest than head studies, as buyers tend to feel that a head study alone is more specific to an individual animal–more like a portrait done for-hire than just a generic rendering of a breed.

2. Backgrounds add value and interest to an animal painting, giving it a more finished look. The time spent on it will generally result in more interest in the piece.

3. Purebreed renderings peak more interest than blended breeds, as buyers who live with that particular breed often feel an immediate affiliation with the piece.

4. Abstract or stylized pieces find a wide market, as buyers are often as interested in the colors or feel of the piece as they are in the subject matter.

5. Tips 1-4 above are subject to change. As an artist, you know that buyers’ tastes are often unpredictable and sometimes you must be aware of the standard rules just so you can work outside them.

If any one of these guidelines helps you build a market for the style of art that you most enjoy creating, then stay true to it and build on it. As a companion animal artist, you already know that your work brings good things into the lives of those who view it. It’s a special feeling to know that your passion also enriches others’ lives as well as your own.

The author has worked with dogs and cats and their people for two decades. She also provides a venue for dog and cat artists with her online gallery, http://www.GreatandSmallGallery.com

Challenge Coin Display Cases and Challenge Coins Tips

February 24th, 2009

I find it amazing that the interest and popularity of challenge coins and challenge coin displays keeps rising. I get many questions about military challenge coins so I have decided to gather some valuable tips for you.

The most popular challenge coins are navy challenge coins, marine corps challenge coins, army challenge coins, air force challenge coins and police challenge coins. Which one do you prefer?

Challenge coins are more precious than one can imagine - they usually worth a couple of bucks, but they have a sentimental value no one can evaluate. That’s way; you must protect your military challenge coins by using a challenge coin display case.

Buy a challenge coin display that totally answers your needs:

1. One that will make you proud of your challenge coins collection - Some have dozens of challenge coins from navy challenge coin, marine corps challenge coins and army challenge coin to air force challenge coins and police challenge coins. A collection like this could be really impressive.

2. One that will fully protect your challenge coins - Most of the challenge coin display cases have a plastic capsule for each individual coin.

I find the military challenge coins a bit magical. Did you know that no one can point exactly when the first challenge coin was made? Some say that the first one is date to World War 1. Others say that the first military challenge coin is from the Vietnam War.

I believe that people are just starting now to understand the real value of challenge coins. A good investment would be purchasing as many different challenge coins as you can. They are going to be an expensive collectible item in a few years.

But one should remember that a challenge coin represents values before everything - support to the organization minted on the coin whether it is a navy challenge coin, marine corps challenge coin or any other organization.
