In Your Shoes

July 9th, 2008

Ever wish that you could have the lifestyle of someone you truly admire? Perhaps it’s the lifestyle of the “rich and famous” like a movie star, or a singer? How do you think people would react if one day you decided to start acting like a “diva extraordinaire,” or a megastar actor? My guess is that your family might want to have you admitted for observation. Would the ramification be any less serious if you instead decided to imitate your next door neighbor or business mentor? Perhaps, your family and friends would not rush you to a facility, but I’ll bet they’ll still be quite puzzled. Unfortunately this type of behavior occurs all the time. Someone realizes that they don’t have what they want, so they look at the people who do and decide to copy their actions expecting to achieve the desired result. Alas, they frequently find themselves disappointed.

Graciella has “the life.” She just got the promotion that Tina secretly coveted, along with the huge office, has a wonderful house in the suburbs, the newest sport utility vehicle for bad weather and a flashy convertible for fun, a successful husband who loves to cook, and two darling children. When Tina compared her life to Graciella’s with the second mortgage, the one car that may or may not get her to work, and the cubicle the size of a shoebox, she couldn’t help but feel a tad short-changed. She didn’t begrudge Graciella the things she had achieved, but desperately wanted them for herself. So, Tina decided that if she wanted a similar lifestyle, she needed to behave in a very similar manner.

Tina became a “mini-Graciella.” She began to dress like Graciella, mimic her actions, and even eat similar things. At first Graciella was mildly amused, but quickly became annoyed and a tad concerned over Tina’s behavior. Tina’s metamorphosis did not go unnoticed by her other co-workers, and she suddenly found herself getting the attention she desired, but for all the wrong reasons. Her boss quickly became dissatisfied with her work because he relied upon the unique insight that Tina had brought to the table. After about a month of this troubling behavior he called her into his office. She anticipated the meeting with excitement. She just knew that he was going to offer her the remaining promotion. Why wouldn’t he? After all she had been doing exactly the same things as Graciella. Tina could not understand why her boss was not smiling when she walked in, as they had always had an easy relationship.

After Tina sat he explained to her that she had been a shoe-in for the promotion until about a month before. He went on to say that instead of promoting her as he had hoped, he was actually issuing an informal warning because her performance had been seriously sub-standard. He told her that she had lost the promotion to another employee, but that she would have another chance in about a year, providing that her current issue was rectified immediately. Before she left he patted her hand and told her that one Graciella in the office was enough, but they really needed the input, intelligence, and insight that Tina brought to the team. As Tina walked back to her tiny cubicle fighting tears, she realized how creepy she had been behaving. She had willingly abandoned who she was, her unique traits, her quirky sense of humor, and her unerringly sense of intuition for her job. At what cost? She almost lost a job she truly enjoyed, was ostracized from people that she had worked with for years, and had move herself even further from her goals.

There are a number of ways that Tina could have handled the situation, but the most effective way would have been by embracing her uniqueness. Tina lost track of what was working for her and focused on what she wanted that she didn’t have.

Tina forgot to embrace the qualities that made her Tina, to put those positive vibrations out into the universe so that those wonderful qualities of hers would attract more of the lifestyle that she desired. Tina got too caught up in “falling in line” and forgot that marching to her own tune could be just as much fun, and bring success on its own. Success tailored to Tina, the type that is the perfect fit for her because she attracted it to suit her qualities, desires, abilities, and spirit.

Remember to be your own unique self, be it similar to someone else or completely different, just be true to you. That authenticity and honesty is the heart of you, the heart from which your vibrations are unleashed. Honest thoughts, vibrations, and actions will produce amazing results that are so in-line with what you truly desire.

Facial Hair Removal Using Caution

June 21st, 2008

There are many body parts that are known for undesired hair. Namely, facial, bikini area, and legs among just to mention a few. The face is one of the most exposed area of the body which deserves detail perfection. Facial hair is well-known to be depreciating in women for example and that is why many seek facial hair removal. There are many options available for different facial hair removal nowadays ranging from a simple cream to permanent hair removal through laser treatment.

The most popular types of hair removal are those that are effective while not causing skin damage. Facial skin is one of the most sensitive areas of the skin hence the need for caution when utilizing different types of facial hair removal. Waxing for example, is not very popular for mustache removal, as it may cause skin irritation given the sensitivity of skin in that area. Razor is also not a very good option for facial hair removal given the recurrence of stronger and thicker hair after shaving. In general, for facial hair removal, such as eyebrows and mustache, laser treatment has been very effective. It is always important to consult your physician if local irritation, redness, or swelling occurs after any treatment.

Take Your Children For a Spray Tan!

June 2nd, 2008

Have you ever tried to get your teenage son or daughter to stop sun tanning, only to realize after several months/years, that you will not win with peer pressure?

The look of a suntanned body is “in” more than ever, and the tanning industry is one of the fastest growing beauty sectors.
Do we have to see our children sacrifice their health for sake of fashion?

Not necessarily. Working in a tanning industry, I am watching a growing trend: parents are bringing in their children for a spray tan. Some as young as 11.

Is this a case of vanity?

Maybe, but as one of those mothers explained to me: “I had a death in the family because of the skin cancer, and myself, I had few cancerous spots removed. I know the danger, and I am not prepared to risk my daughter getting sick or dying. I am teaching her right habits so that she fits in with her friends, but takes care of herself at the same time.”

Suddenly, it did not sound so vain any more. After all, I feel that my first duty as a mother is to keep my children safe.
I make sure that I teach them how to cross the road and eat healthy foods, why not teach them how to avoid melanoma?

Sure, it can be a little bit expensive, but so are braces!
And the result, if they learn the lesson, will not only ensure that they stay healthy, but also as an added benefit will give them a beautiful skin for the rest of their lives.

It might be worth it, after all.

Manifest Your Desires: A Virtual Workshop

May 7th, 2008

I love giving Joyful Manifestation workshops. Amazing things
happen when you step into your magnificence and become more
and more true to yourself.

Of course, not everyone can make it to a live session. That’s why
I’ve decided
to write out a formula for a YOFA Joyful Manifestation
Workshop
that you can do wherever you are, whenever you like.

Manifestation

The only way to have a desire become manifest is for you to
become as you would be once you have it.

Paradoxically, you must become it before you have it, in order
to
have it.

If there is anything you want that has not yet come into your
experience, here’s a process you can use to attract the joyful
relationships, beautiful things, and satisfying experiences you
seek.

You can use this process in the privacy of your own awareness or
you can get together with one or more friends and have a YOFA(TM)
manifestation party.

Sharing after each numbered segment can lead to greater insight.
Also, the authentic conversation cultivated by these processes
deepens friendships.

========****=========

VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

Find a comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed for
about 20 minutes. If you are doing this in a group, allow for
more time for sharing and conversation — about an hour depending
on the size of the group.

Whether you are alone or in a group, you may want to journal
your process as you go. A little notebook in your back pocket
or your purse is always a good idea.

Approach each step with a contemplative spirit.

1 - Begin by considering the distinction between Being and
Doing.

==> Close your eyes and consider how it
feels to do something that you desire to do.

==> Open your eyes and stretch.

==> Close your eyes and consider how it feels
to be someone who is expert at doing that
same thing.

==> Feel that difference between doing and being and
bring that distinction into your experiential vocabulary.

2 - Notice if your desire is to

==> do something

==> have something

==> or be something.

3 - Regardless of which category your desire falls
into, imagine who you would be if your desire
were fulfilled.

==> Close your eyes and consider how it feels.
to be the person for whom that desire is reality.

==> Be that person.

4 - If you are happy with the feeling of that,
revisit it often.

5 - Imagine that you ARE it.

6 - If you are in a group, talk to the others about any subject
(your daily activities, what you’re making for dinner, where
you’re going on vacation) as if your desire were already manifest.

7 - If you are alone, talk to imaginary people or write from this reality.

8 - If you feel any static while pondering this desire as already fulfilled,
tweak it until it feels good.

9 - Meditate on this person who you are morphing into.

10 - Modify it if necessary.

11 - Like a whittler, keep carving, perfecting, and
purifying your notion of your desire.

==> The idea here is not to change your desire,
but to discover the true nature of the desire
of your heart and come into greater awareness
of it.

12 - Continue to be who you would be if that evolving desire
became manifest right now.

13 - Do this as often as is fun.

14 - Close your session with gratitude for the
coming realization and fulfillment of your heart’s desire.

This basic format will take you far. Do it with sincerity and
compassion for yourself. Make it fun and let it be easy.

The better it feels as you do this process, the happier you will be
with your manifestation.

Beverly Hills Tummy Tuck

May 1st, 2008

Having tummy tuck surgery performed in Beverly Hills is part of the lifestyle of the rich and famous. It’s not by coincidence that gorgeous people blanket this city from the Hollywood Bowl to Virginia Robison Gardens. A city that is driven by fame and overindulgence of its residents. It should not be surprising that Beverly Hills is home of the cre’me de la cre’me of plastic surgeons.

Pick up any copy of People magazine and you will find stars showing off their new breasts. Breast implants are often boasted about among the celebrities and picked up by the media. But there are many other procedures performed in Beverly Hills that are kept a tight secret. One of the many procedures performed regulary at an attempt to stay beautiful and attractive to the world is known as the Beverly Hills Tummy Tuck.

A Beverly Hills Tummy Tuck is a procedure to remove excessive fat to the middle or lower abdomen. The tummy tuck or the proper term Adominoplasty dramatically reduces the appearance of a protruding abdomen.

Like most Americans that live a modest lifestyle in any major city the term Protruding Abdomen could be commonly referred to as a Beer Gut.

Now this may not be a total and fair judgement of those that may desire this surgery. There are many women who have undergone a C-Section and after giving birth are left with loose skin in the lower abdomen. Having this surgery can and will most likely increase confidence and self esteem.

When I talk about the Beverly Hills Tummy Tuck or any other plastic surgery procedure done with the intent of ones own vanity, I am talking about the false beauty being portrayed that influences many of todays youth.

How many eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa or bulima are the result of pressures from society to look thin and beautiful. I partly blame the media in how it portrays the lifestyle of the rich and famous of Beverly Hills.

I wish people would realize that the many celebrates that influence todays youth, are beautiful yes! but not just because of natural beauty, No but rather a beauty that can be purchased like a commodity. These people have luxeries that the common person cannot afford.

Think how much easier dieting would be if you could afford your own personel trainer and coach, hire private chef to cook all your meals. When you see these people on cameras they have undergone hours upon hours of makeup preperation. How many tummy tucks, face lifts, liposuction, and lip colligan procedures are performed in Beverly Hills will never be known

But one things for sure! plastic surgery is a part of Beverly Hills just as the Tin Man was to the Wizard Of Oz. Without it the stars would not shine so bright.

Why Go Hairless? Will Laser Hair Removal Work For You?

April 16th, 2008

There has always been pressure on women to be free of body hair, but with the recent metro sexual trend men are now facing pressure to be hair free from the neck down. For both men and women this goes beyond grooming. Hair removal is a trend, and many people perceive a hairless body as sexy and attractive. Go to any bookstore and glance at the magazine rack and you will not see man with a hairy chest or back, and while Burt Reynolds may have popularized the rugged hairy chested look back in the 70’s it’s clearly not the case anymore.

For women the removal of pubic hair becoming the norm. They endure great pain to achieve this look, and for many women to not be clean shaven would be a source of embarrassment.

The most common ways to remove hair:

Depilation which only removes the hair above the skins surface. The most common form of depilation is shaving, and the use of chemical creams, which work by breaking down the protein in the hair, making the hair disintegrate.

Epilation removes the entire hair root and all. This can be accomplished through waxing, epilation devices, plucking, sugaring, and the use of lasers.

While there are products on the market that claim to permanently stop the growth of hair the only true way to accomplish this is with laser hair removal. For most people laser hair removal is a long process, and the effects from person to person can vary greatly. Skin tone and hair color are the greatest factures that will determine your success with laser hair removal. The best possible combination is light skin with dark hair, the worst dark skin with light hair.

Being hair free is a trend that is not going to go away for quite some time, and while the plain old razor will still do job it can be very time consuming and the results typically will not last for more then a day. Waxing is painful and expensive, and will last 1 to 2 weeks. If your looking for permanent hair removal laser treatments are the only option currently available.

It’s best to seek out a qualified laser technician who specializes in these types of procedures to go over your hair removal options.

Laser hair removal is the latest thing for both men and women. The only permant way to remove unsightly body hair is with a laser. For more visit http://www.laser-body-hair-removal.info

Electrolysis - Electrifying Hair Removal

April 7th, 2008

Electrolysis is a hair removal process that works by inserting a fine needle into the hair follicle, (the skin depression from which the hair emerges), and disabling the hair root either by heat or chemical action and sometimes both at the same time. Each hair is treated individually.

Electrolysis is most suitable for removing female facial hair, but it can be used on almost any part of the body. There are millions of people who have solved the embarrassing problem of excess hair with the help of the hair removal method of electrolysis.

Electrolysis hair removal was developed around 1869 by an ophthalmologist, a medical doctor specializing in the treatment of diseases of the eye, Charles Michel, who sought a way to safely and effectively remove ingrown eyelashes which frequently caused blindness.

Electrolysis hair removal was adopted by the medical community and then adapted as a treatment for excess hair removal on other parts of the body. The same basic technique, improved and modernized, has been used since those times.

Hundreds of scientific articles published in medical literature state that hair removal by electrolysis is permanent. But - There’s also scientific evidence that regrowth can occur when a new root cell is formed in the same area.

Hair removal by electrolysis should be performed at a reputable clinic by a trained and state licensed electrologist.

Compared to other hair removal methods, electrolysis is time consuming. Depending on how fast your hair grows, it usually takes regular weekly or monthly visits for up to a year to complete the process.

Hair removal by electrolysis is painful, even with a topical anesthetic. Some describe it as a slight heat, tingling or stinging sensation.

Don’t hesitate to let your electrologist know if what you’re experiencing is uncomfortable. They’re trained to work within your comfort level. There are machine settings or the type of treatment that can be adjusted.

There usually is some redness or swelling and occasionally some pinpoint scabbing and even scarring following electrolysis hair removal. Ask your electrologist what you can do to help the healing process.

And hair removal by electrolysis is expensive. Usually there’s a rate of $25 to $100 per hour. And if the procedure takes longer, a lower hourly rate doesn’t always mean a lower cost.

If you’d rather not endure the pain, time, cost, and possible scarring of electrolysis, do some research to learn about alternative hair removal methods.

Acne Medicine

March 23rd, 2008

Acne is a combined term that is used to describe a number of skin conditions, like blackheads, blemishes, lumps, and whiteheads. Teenagers and adults can have acne. Stress, hormonal activity, bacteria, steroids, and overactive glands can cause acne.

The various forms of acne are:

Blackheads - due to melanin pigment

Whiteheads - due to the bacteria inside a blocked pore

Papules - are tiny, tender and red spots.

Pustules - are red spots filled with pus, and inflamed.

Nodules - are bumps under the skin which are large and hard.

Cysts - are nodules accompanied by severe inflammation and infection.

The different types of acne include:

ACNE VULGARIS: is a chronic inflammatory condition wherein fluid (sebum) is created by overactive oil and sweat glands.

ACNE ROSEACA: is similar to acne vulgaris, but people also experience skin flushing and a general redness of the area. Sufferers should avoid spicy food and alcohol.

ACNE COSMETICA: is due to the prolonged use of cosmetics, especially those containing isopropyl myristate or greasy ingredients such as lanolin. The best treatment is to stop using the cosmetic causing the acne.

ACNE EXCORIEE: is caused when the skin is damaged by the fingernails and unable to heal due to persistent scratching, which leaves a broad, shallow scar.

CYSTIC ACNE: Cystic acne usually occurs in males. It generally persists beyond 20 years of age and may lead to permanent scarring. This type of Acne can be medically treated with a specialist’s advice.

OCCUPATIONAL ACNE: This is a common condition suffered by motor mechanics who are frequently exposed to oils and grease.

CLIMATE CHANGE: Changes of climate can cause acne, particularly when one moves to a warm climate from a cool one. This is because warm skin releases more oils and sweat, to keep the body cool. One should use a light moisturizer and cleanse the skin regularly.

Face Lift Information

March 20th, 2008

As you age, your skin becomes slack and your muscles become less taut. This makes your skin sag and you look older than you actually are. People ask you if you are tired or sick or angry when you are actually in a pleasant mood. While it cannot restore skin elasticity, a facelift can make you look and feel years younger. Facelifts (rhytidectomy being the clinical term) are designed to pull the excess skin tight again and tighten the muscles underneath.

Different doctors recommend different modes of anesthetizing facelift patients for surgery, but you should discuss what you are comfortable with in your consultation. Patients on general anesthesia will sleep through the entire procedure but are more likely to be hospitalized for a day. The other option is to have local anesthesia and take a sedative. Patients who chose this option will be awake but relaxed and drowsy during the operation and due to the local anesthesia will feel no pain.

Then the incision is made behind the hairline to hide the scar and then around the front of the ear. Sometimes a second incision is made in the chin. The surgeon separates the skin from the underlying tissues and removes excess fat that affects the way that the skin hangs over the face. Then the facial muscles are tightened. Finally the skin is pulled up to the incision line and the excess is trimmed away and the incision is sewn back.

Pain associated with recovery from a face lift is usually minimal and most patients are glad that they had the surgery. Facelifts are often performed in conjunction with other types of cosmetic surgery including brow lift and eyelid surgery.
